Oh sorry, wasn't clear -- I use Slack for work, but how do I connect with Toasties? I remember seeing something about a group, but can't find the name...

It is just too perfect that this last humorous Tolkien tribute contains a sucker-punch to the heart.

I dunno, man... being a potential rightful owner of HALF of the Bank of England's holdings is a pretty big deal to some people who would maybe be able to rig the results of any DNA test... I thought the Franziska link was tenuous to begin with. Honestly I would have believed the DNA results more if they pointed to some other person.

(honestly this is the only wacko conspiracy I believe in...no, really)

What a great piece. So evocative, and with good life advice, too.

(I'm assuming there are only three comments because most readers have been rendered speechless!)

I was looking for a particular subject in the print archives for Outside and was struck by what a dude-centric mag it is. So rugged! Manly! With the occasional (pink) bone thrown to the ladies. That "No More Barbie Gear" article is great but ran only online.

Many of these issues boil down to the fact that the gear companies are largely run by men, and they don't see a market for serious women's gear. Therefore there won't be one. It's a giant snake eating its tail: few women's products, no need for advertising, little money for women-focused stories, scarce inspiration for women to try hardcore sports, not as much money spent on women's gear -- and so back around again.
