My goodness I related to so much of this, even though almost none of it is exactly my life.

But writers, yo. We have this shared thing, don't we?

Which is to say I get it. And I missed your writing.

You're one of the good ones. (And by that I mean one of the verybest ones.)

Your love and this post—so special.

This is a little piece of awesomeness right here.

I'm going to share it later (after a sufficient pause between all my complainy/negative posts...)
Because there's plenty of negative to point out right now.

I might as well chime in with some Pollyanna. I like her. She smiles a lot.

This is exactly how we ended up with our third dog, a rescue puppy we HAD NO INTENTION OF ADOPTING.
No intention.
Except, well, we did fill out the application and pay the deposit and agree to a house visit.
But there was NO WAY they'd let us adopt one of those seven puppies from the abandoned litter we saw on Facebook because there are billions of people on Facebook and EVERYONE IS GOING TO WANT THEM SO DON'T EVEN WORRY.
But then the agency DID want us to adopt one of the puppies but THERE WAS NO WAY WE'D GET THE CUTEST LITTLEST ONE because she was the cutest littlest one SO DO NOT GET YOUR HOPES UP.
But then there was NO WAY when we brought our two OTHER dogs to the foster house to meet the cutest littlest one that THEY WOULD BOTH ACTUALLY BEHAVE and make us look like competent dog owners.
But then yes, all that happened and we now have three dogs.
It's the best.
(Also, we probably need a new couch, too.)

Just like this. Except with college.

You're kind of my hero.

You are the funniest. Thanks, O'Bourbon!
(But seriously. I'm glad you're back. A lot of other things suck in the world right now.)

I know it's not the end of January quite yet.
But I'll still be here then, too.

2017. It's gonna be another year.

This makes me happy.
That is all.
Happy.

I mourned the first Christmas after I knew for sure neither of my kids "believed" anymore (I'd suspected, but everyone played along for at least a couple of years).

So I totally get grieving over the loss of magic. I do.

But let me tell you, it's also pretty kick-ass to send your 17 and 19-year-olds out to scope their own gifts. So you know the exact right size, shape, color. No returns. Total satisfaction for them.

Almost-total laziness for me.

Not too shabby.
