I'm surprised that Sears is still in business. I have stopped going to their store or doing any kind of business with them just because their customer service sucks. Not only that, the quality of their merchandise has also plummeted. Your story is just another example why people should just giving Sears their business. They don't give a crap.

I am new to your blog and your story breaks my heart. I hate to see the sins of adults put on the shoulders of innocent children. Yes, those candy givers probably did not intentionally and purposely skipped your kids. But that is the most dangerous kind of racism because it's not consciously perpetrated. It is so ingrained that those doing it do not realize it. It is their reality. They do not SEE colors... they only see white.

I agree with what CaitieCat said:
"We are racist. It takes active, every day commitment to avoid racist acts, because we have grown up breathing it in with the very air."

And that does not only apply to white people. We are all guilty of being racist.
