I never order tea when I'm out. I don't trust anyone and I hate paying $3 for a teabag.

The one exception is Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar in Charlottesville, VA who make better tea than I do and have an amazing selection.

That's funny, I wonder if his Wikipedia editors found copies of tours given at Monticello and UVA. "Buildings built by slaves? At this university? Let's just, um, didn't Jefferson say that education was the light of democracy? Let's go look somewhere else."

I thought it was his elbow, which he injured jumping over a fence trying to impress her? Note: Never read his love letters, including a nice meaty ten-pager where his head and his heart argue incessantly over this lady who was probably just trying to enjoy her afternoon before weirdo TJ decided to spill all his feelings at her.

The album Nightfall in Middle-Earth by Blind Guardian is HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and 100% based off the Silmarillion. I have not read the Sil (though now I believe I should) but it made my mega LoTR nerd friend cry multiple times. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR NERDS

First of all, I also used to work at a historic home where the owner also owned slaves. While I worked there, little to no research had been done on what life was like for the 50+ slaves at the home at any given time, and tour guides were on their own to mention it. (I believe these circumstances have changed since I left). Since tours were rather short, I usually mentioned that the owner of the house had slaves and if people had questions, I would take it from there. And, boy that comment about fatigue in covering horrors really gets to you. One moment stands out in particular... a little old Southern lady said to me, "Well, he was nice to his people, wasn't he?" In front of a group of at least eleven people, my response was to shout, "NO, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE NICE TO SOMEONE WHEN YOU OWN THEM. PERIOD." Yeah.
