My organization moved out of its old building about 3 years ago. The old building was built on top of a 9 story public parking garage near a methadone clinic. I recently heard that there had been homeless people living in our office building at night. Apparently they found an emergency exit door that was unlocked. A few of my coworkers saw hints of this, but just thought nothing of it. Like the smell of marijuana in one of the stairwells (though who knows, that could've been an employee). As far as I know, nothing was stolen

I love this thread! My description is vague, but it's probably been almost 30 years since I read this:

Mine is a short story for elementary or middle schoolers. It is about a family that has a visitor who seems to be from the future. The visitor is a boy who has clothes and shoes of very fine materials that the family has never seen before. He's a vegetarian. The family's neighbors are very close minded, and find out about the visitor and want to do something bad to him. There's a vivid description of the neighbor woman's beady, mean eyes. Somehow the visitor escapes in the end.

I hated running in high school. I quit soccer team when they told us we would do more running. But I hated soccer anyway, so. I had only joined it because an ear infection kept me from swimming.

I came to like running in my mid 20s, but running does not like me back. I've done a few 5Ks and two sprint triathlons, but can never get farther than that without an injury. Let's see, I've had a strained hamstring, runner's knee, hip bursitis, and now I'm enjoying a case of plantar fasciitis that refuses to heal. When I do run, it's a 13-minute mile. Too bad, because running is logistically easy and gets me outside and makes me feel great until the inevitable injury.

I don't have that problem, but when I do squats in front of my husband he makes farting noises. Yes, he is 36 going on 12.

I see the same thing happening here in Boston. The Red Line near Mattapan gets shut down for months for repairs, (at least with bus service replacing it, but still), but the Red Line that goes through more affluent neighborhoods only gets closed on the weekends.

The Book Thief. It's about a girl, if that counts. It's amazing.

We're at the end of a fiscal year, but no money has been authorized for the next fiscal year. Republicans are withholding the money unless they de-fund Obamacare. Because, you know, it is BAD for people to have healthcare. I'm sure you Canadians understand what I'm saying.

What's worked for me? Accutane and birth control pills. And i also might have just grown out of it. I have spent obscene amounts of money and time dealing with acne. It can go fuck itself.

I worked at McDonald's for three years in high school. All in all it could be pretty fun because all of the night shift workers were friends and at first the managers were cool too. Our store was open until 2 am and late at night we'd run around the place shooting condiments and throwing wet rags at each other. One time a bunch of us took the day off to go to Busch Gardens together. I still believe that any job can be okay if you like the people you work with.

There were a few hazards though - the floors were really slippery after mopping so I'd slip and fall and the customers would laugh at me. And one time I burnt my arm on a fry basket. And eventually they brought in a douchebag manager who wouldn't let us horse around. And then I got put on day shift (during the summer) and those people were No Fun At All.

At first I ate the food but eventually got tired of it. Everybody got food from other places during their shifts - pizza, Chinese, sub sandwiches.
