As Anon points out above, when St George's Day coincides with Holy Week or Easter it is "commuted" until after the first Sunday after Easter - in this case, Monday 2 May. This is because, in the church's calendar, Holy Week and the week beginning on Easter Sunday take priority over any saints' days that fall within them. So let's see if Google puts this doodle back up a week on Monday!

Fair enough. And I certainly take your point about the intentional political meaning of the event.

Do any of the Porvoo churches have women bishops? Have they ever preached or presided in English churches? Ditto other Anglican Communion churches with women bishops?

Anyway, as long as KJS doesn't confirm or ordain anyone while she's here... or should I perhaps not put ideas in their heads? ;-)

Do mitres have any legal ramifications in the Church of England? (Genuine question.)

Good outcome. Should never have got this far, of course.

Striking how many of these civil liberties cases (photographers arrested for photographing Nelson's Column, that sort of thing) seem to involve PCSOs. Does rather support the stereotype of PCSOs as under-trained toy-town coppers with ideas above their station...

Watched the first 20 minutes or so of this so far. Interesting, though I find the whole US news "thing" quite annoying and distracting - and I'll probably bail when Ted turns up.

Jennifer Knapp's not exactly James Alison when it comes to articulating theology. But then, James Alison's probably a rotten singer-songwriter. ;-)
