Thank you Yana! Personally, we really do like Toyotas, and try and stick with Japanese made cars as their value holds so well (even after Toyotas recent problems).

You have far more experience than I in this area, and I think I will take your lead, and at least thoroughly test drive a bunch of cars before making any decision. I wouldn't have even thought about testing the AC in the back or testing the defrosters had you not mentioned it.

I actually really wanted a Subaru when we started looking casually earlier in the year. I really liked that they have four wheel drive, aren't gas hogs and didn't look so much like a family wagon..but alas, most of them only have four seats even though they are quite roomy. Some do have a middle seat in the back versus just two captain seats, but they aren't much larger than the Corolla so I don't believe three car seats would fit. I may do some test drives with them though, and my boss has one so we can take a closer look sometime.

Thanks for such great insight!

Thanks MR! There is a reason behind these that I'll soon share so I really wanted to write about things that I have actually done or seen done before.

Your kind words are too much :) thanks

Hey no prob! It's not like they print that stuff on the label, ya know. The manufacture would probably prefer we didn't understand the expiration labels so we just threw everything out on that date, but it's a waste of food and money!

Get it going! :) After publishing this article, I actually read there was a bill being pushed that would mandate everyone in the state here be signed up for the program and would require them to opt-out if they didn't want it. It would have made a huge impact on the states power usage, but the bill caused a lot of confusion and was put down.

Ah the golden coast...I can understand paying more when you have more, that\'s for sure, but comfort is one of the first things I am willing to give up if we are hurting for money, second to convenience.

Ah..understandable :) I would pay the extra if my wife wasn't so understanding and pleasant which as I understand it, menopause can create the opposite effect.

:) Joe, you make me chuckle. Way to be blunt and stand your ground hah

Any insight into your families thoughts on this? Is your wife hot or cold blooded?

Hey Forest, that's an awesome pledge and a loft goal, to buy a house without credit but those goals are what keep us moving forward at the rate we do!

and thank YOU for the guest post opportunity!

The list is great, but some people just can't commit! :) It's like those perennial dieters that never lose any weight..

My wife and I do a double check before checking out at the store. The time it takes us to shop, and seeing the full cart at the end, helps us eliminate more things from our cart that are unnecessary. Thanks for stopping by!

Yikes, that thought alone is pretty scary. I would hate to have to take a job as a door greeter at Wal-Mart because I ran out of cash in retirement, very good point. Those little things do add up and push you away from comfortable retirement. Well put Squirrelers, and thanks for dropping by!
