I love all these ideas. I think fresh flowers just brighten up a space so unbelievably well. Can't beat a good atmospheric candle either.

I think I fall into the category of the person who doesn't open her bank statement! I am lucky in that my OH deals with all the money but maybe I should ask him every once in a while just to be sure!!

Great tips, we have been in this position in previous years and it can be tough; I think the last point is quite controversial but if you are in a sticky situation it is certainly better than getting yourself into further debt or difficulty.

I have to be honest and say I'd never considered Gretna Green as somewhere to go for a weekend break but it sounds like an interesting place to visit.

I agree that not having a set bedtime can work wonders! We always try and do things in the same order, so bath, book and bed to help the kids know what's coming but sometimes we do that and they are in bed by 7pm and sometimes they are in bed by 9pm if we have had a crazy busy day. I think it's important to do what works for you x
