scrolled down in the comments hoping someone would mention that. Honestly, as an awkward black teen, the "beige fits all" mentality caused me just as much stress as finding a bra that fit. It's pretty sad to read otherwise empowering articles, and then realize the author doesn't consider dark-skinned women as "everyone."

I think my biggest movie-yell here was during the scene where grieving crazy doctor man infiltrates the room where Bucky is being held and begins to say the Special Control Words. Bucky breaks loose of his bonds, and I was like, "Oh good, now he can cover his ears. The Words are useless if he can't hear them, right?"

And he doesn't.

He continues to try to break out of an impenetrable cage by RIPPING BACK BARS and I'm just like, "LITERALLY THIS WHOLE AVENGERS BREAK UP WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF YOU'D JUST COVERED YOUR EARS FOR TWO SECONDS"

And his hair was horrible.

(And you don't kiss your girlfriend's niece, Steve, especially when that niece runs an in depth revenge plot of wealthy Massachusetts families. Though I take deep pleasure in thinking that Amanda Clarke somehow infiltrated the UN and is using Captain America for her own ends).

I'm beginning to realize how much reading Victorian lit as a kid shaped my games of pretend. According to my ten-year-old self, so much of being a EPIC HEROINE was wrapped up in food-- the plainer and more spartan to look upon, the better.

I have a distinct memory of playing "lost princesses" with a friend, during which we tied hand towel kerchiefs to sticks and packed to run away. She was like, "Let's take some gummy worms!"

I looked at her with profound disapproval.

"We're HEROINES, Sarah. We can only take bread and a small hunk of hard cheese."

"But you have gummy worms. There's a big bag in your kitch"--

"LOST PRINCESSES DO NOT HAVE GUMMY WORMS"

Good pretend-partners were hard to find.

I did! I had that expansion and built treacherous watery metropolis-es to my heart's content. Any Krakens who dared threaten my city were made short work of a la "Fireballs from Heaven"

OH GOSH, did any Toasties ever play that old computer game "Zeus: Master of Olympus?" Basically it was this ancient Greek city building game where you could hover over civilians and they'd say thinly veiled Greek jokes. If you hovered over the fleece/pelt sellers, a man would say, "Watch it! If EURIPE-DES, YOU MENDA DEEZ."

Also, Dionysius would show up in your city sometimes and drunkenly stumble through your streets, trying to convince you to worship him.

Many happy hours in junior high (and high school. ...And a leetle bit in college. I really liked this game, okay?)

Whenever I'm tempted to noble acts of bravery or non-conformity, I find it helpful to imagine a Concerned Handwringer Prince Man who is all Don't Go, You Are Too Important and Beautiful To Do The Noble Thing, What Shall I Do Without You, I Shall Surely Die of Worry

and then I don't do the thing

Case in point of this man's power:

The only thing I have "seen" Daniel Henney in is Big Hero Six, where I fell in love with whoever did the vocal acting for Tadashi. But I was SUPER nervous to look him up, in case it was another case of a white actor playing an actor of color. Imagine, with me, the beatific angel chorus over my soul when I got this IMDB result:

JUST IMAGINE
