J-- I have to admit, I was kind of surprised that you read these books, but I totally get why you did. It was an excellent clinical analysis of what's in the books-- both the good & the bad.

I think the idea of have a female savior is so dangerous. I know women who've stuck around with the wrong guy because they want to change or save him. It almost never, ever works and it's a terrible thing to encourage a woman toward a bad, even abusive, relationship because she thinks she can "save" the man.

Great point. Love you, friend!!

Hey girl. I haven't read the books and I don't plan to. I don't wanna get that gunk in my brain, but I was very interested in this breakdown. Like Katie, I heard the writing was pretty awful. What did you think?

We go through stress and a shift every summer. As a SAHM, I have a regular schedule with the kids. But when hubby (who is a teacher) comes home for the summer, suddenly our schedule is non-existent. It makes me nuts. And every summer we reach the same place-- a nasty argument about his laid-back desire to have no schedule, and my type-a plan that's being destroyed. It's frustrating. We always work it out after some "intense fellowship" (as I like to call it), but I have to admit, I always breath a sigh of relief when school starts. :)

I didn't watch it, but I agree with your assessments 100%. Those statements rub me the wrong way, too.

Funny!! I like your vampire theme.

I just tried to get through a book I thought I would love-- Vampires, God, love...

I made it 50% in and gave up. I'm SO disappointed. (I'll email you the title. Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.)

Oooh, love this. And you're completely right about the motivations behind reasons for entering.

When I get results back that I don't like (and this doesn't just apply to contests or to writing, for that matter) I become obsessed with doing whatever I can to prove that I am better. I work harder, I practice more, I do whatever it is I have to do to improve. I've always been dogged with determination like that. Perhaps it's not always good, but it's gotten me this far. :) I pray that I'm always growing!
