It really depends on what the problems are. If it's a fundamental problem...too many grammar issues, characters unlikable etc, then I generally DNF by about 30%. If I am finding it boring, I will try and read something else and then come back to it. Sometimes it's my mood and I try and give it another shot.

It's so hard for me to push through when the beginning is boring. Especially when I'm just craving a great read to dive into. Definite kudos for finishing and enjoying it more than at first. Great review!

I added this one to my to-read list. I'm a sucker for anything Fae and I'm from Texas so the location should be fun. I know all about late August around here lol. Thanks so much for sharing!

I've grown a liking to dystopians, but I don't read many. I am pretty choosy about which ones I jump on board with. I've heard a lot of people are getting aggravated by them. I haven't read Divergent, but my 12 year old just devoured the entire series in about a week, and he loved every minute of it! I hope you enjoy the next ones as well.

I haven't read John Green or Veronica Roth either though I have read Cassandra Claire. I feel like there are a ton of authors that I haven't read because I don't really get into NA or Contemporary romances. I need a bit of paranormal for the story to interest me so I'm even more limited that you found you might be. I read all the reviews for these genres though and the majority seem like the same sort of plot lines to me. I like different. I also really enjoy worlds created in an entire series more often than a stand alone. Great topic! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

I completely understand what you mean about being worried about sequels and spin-offs not living up. I also find it hard to really get into shorts sometimes because the action has to be delivered so quickly. It's great that these give you everything you need in the small package. Excellent review! I really like the name of this one. I agree with your thinking on the combo of scam and ambitious. That's what I was thinking too, and it's intriguing for where the story could go. I'm glad you enjoyed the short. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

Sounds like such a great read. I haven't started the series, but what's funny is that I know a friend that would probably love it to pieces. I'm always thrilled with surprises and twists so I would definitely love that aspect. Great review! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
