This happened to my brother at his house ... And now he has three cats. In addition to the two cats he had previously. He's like, it's a lot of cats. But seriously the twin cat just started walking into his house like ... Sup guys what you eating over there tuna? It was a very chill stray possibly a left behind? Anyway watch out Mallory this might be a cat plot to take over your life etc.
That woman who brings in the bagels is an insane she-beast haaaaa. I'm convinced she licks all the bagels and muffins so I never eat them.
I enjoyed this piece and thank you for writing it, but I would just like to point out that what President Obama is suggesting is not a guarantee either. I am an art history grad and my brother is a contractor. I have worked consistently since I graduated in 2000 but after the financial crash my brother did not work for an entire year and a half. That's right he did not earn any income at all, and as a self employed person he just had to eat that. Vocational training is fine and all but vocational jobs are just as responsive to the whims and crushing blows of capitalism as "silly" jobs based in the humanities. Sorry Obama but the real solution is to dismantle global capitalism, that's my hot take, based on my time in the humanities. (Also being raised by a crusty socialist dad lol.)
So Cook's Illustrated might be more his speed because it replicates ATC more. It does stuff like rates mayonnaise and a recent issue had and entire article on (ishityounot) the BEST way to fry an egg. Oh yeah. It also has pretty illustrations etc, but sometimes it can seem like there are three recipes in the whole issue. But I personally prefer Cook's Country. Its good folksy americana insanity coming out the ears. I like to read recipes like wee short stories and they have a Margarita Cake (!!!) made with a pretzel crust and margarita mix that I keep threatening to make.
Basically Cooks Illustrated is very much like ATC but with illustrations and a high tone but not a lot of content (but high quality content!!) and Cook's Country is a giant splashy magazine with a ton of photos, way more recipes, including 30 minute dinner cards in the middle, with a few off the wall american regional specialties. Also Melis can cover her ears for this part but in Cooks Country I found the best recipe for hummus evah.

Also don't tell Melis but the best hummus recipe I ever found was in Cooks Country. Also I prefer the photos. And the general lack of Chris Kimball insanity. But negative points, the issues are so large they don't fit on my gd bookshelf so I have to stack them. Wow that was a lot of opinions on ATC. Anyhow! Good luck!!
