You know what I never realized when I was a slow knitter? that speed only comes with practice. I used to wonder how it was humanly possible to knit a project fast. and then all of a sudden I realized I was finishing off projects way fast too. it just happened, just like that. Sure, I knit quite a few things before it happened, but then just like that, I was a fast knitter that could share projects at regular interval and not "look what took me 9 months to complete. too bad it doesn't fit anymore' haha. Just thought i'd share :)

Hi --
My children don't watch tv (other than about 5-10 min. of a hockey game maybe once every 3 weeks in the winter months)
We have a tv... but it's in the closet.... is that an option for you? Ours is set up on a tv. cabinet and everything in a closet that locks, but some of my friends have theirs simply in closets that they pull out if they want to watch it.
I watch tv -- too much tv i'm positive and I'd be giving it up fully if it wasn't for the fact that I knit much MORE if it's on. If I just sit and knit with nothing on in the evenings, i don't last as long... so for the months leading up to christmas for example, it's on as background noise so that i can knit more. I also sleep less when i'm knitting so much so all around, i should probably curve the knitting and it would be better all around! :) We'll never give up tv because of hockey viewing though.

Finally -- GET THAT TV MOVIE transfered/backed up :) it's priceless!!

oh Nicola... I too love gluten... I wish you LOADS of luck on this journey -- like you say, if that's "all" it takes, it's not so bad (though what an adjustment!!) I've been toying with the idea of going gluten free personally for at least a month to see how my body would react -- though at this point I think i'm going to wait until post pregnancy. a few months ago I thought about it and thought there was absolutely NO way I could give up gluten -- but now I think if I start small to see how i do then I could at least test it. I have a friend who went gluten free last month (as well as only vegan cooking) to experiment for her health (without having any drs tell her to do so) and she said she felt SOOO much better... most importantly (and why I want to try it most) was that her energy was MUCH higher and she needed LESS sleep.

One of my close friends has celiac -- and she's said that while it was a very huge adjustment at first (she was 19) how she felt from cutting out gluten made it so much easier to change her life...

I hope you'll share your cooking adventures and discoveries on this journey :)

wow. I can barely imagine what this must have been like for your kids, especially your daughter. amazing really. I grew up in close walking distance to the farm my dad grew up on and less than 1 mi from the farm my mom grew up on -- so those stories that we too loved to hear as children were of very familiar settings! And my parents still live in the home I grew up in and my husband's parents still live in the home he grew up in -- so the stories for my childre are also of familiar settings... I'm trying to imagine discovering these settings and can only imagine it would be a wonderful experience!!
