I am not native american, but I did study native american literature and history in college, taught by a native american professor. (Gros Ventre and Blackfeet)
I have no problem with this episode on those grounds. The comedy in this episode is actually quite reminiscent of the Anti-Western films from the early 1970s.

Who is this "we," you're speaking of? I sincerely hope you are not accusing everyone reading your post of committing genocide.

I can only guess what Hasbro's market research is saying about sales figures, how much of that is data from previous generations being applied to the current, and whether or not IDW has access to that, but it would probably be their bottom line. (I can't find any hard box office numbers for EQG either.)
One thing is for sure though. As much as I want them to make something that I like, I know that I'm not the target demographic.

I would like to know if you are trolling, or if you are trying to pull a fast one. It was you who initially distinguished the difference between the opinions expressed in the polls and the opinions expressed in the comments, and now you are trying to conflate the two? The simple fact of the matter is that these comments are an even smaller sample size of an even more select group of people, and while not necessarily less representative of any larger group as a whole, it is more difficult to make a generalizing assertion.
I would recommend researching information concerning "survey sampling," to better understand the process and the common biases that can occur during a survey.

If this were a show like Dragonball Z, where the important thematic elements revolve around how powerful the main characters are, that argument might make more sense. However, the important thematic elements in Friendship is Magic tend to be character relationships, and you know, friendship.
By making Twilight a princess, whether knowingly or unwittingly, they have shifted Twilight's theme into a political statement rather than one about friends. They made some good political statements in Hearths Warming Eve, but Twilight's princess lesson in EQG was really kind of disturbing. History is replete with examples of atrocities committed by leaders who inspired others to do terrible things, and by those leaders who neglected to force others to follow the rules.

But privilege is such a huge burden!

To have an unbiased, scientific poll, you need to poll a cross section of the total population that you want to analyze. Open polls are going to be biased towards people who feel positively about the topic and are putting forth the energy to seek out content relating to that topic.

I would wager that a large part of the show's original success is because it was meaningful. I may be wrong about that, its difficult to say without hard evidence, but I know that was what attracted me to the show in the first place.
I would also wager that they may be able to coast by for a few more seasons by doing whatever is immediately convenient, and there are plenty of series that do that, but sooner or later the wellspring that they established in seasons 1 and 2 is going to dry up if they can't come up with ways to make the show meaningful on their own.
