I always rent the cheapest car on four wheels and then the rental folks give me the evil eye. Just once though it would be great fun to rent a sports car for a day - as long as there were long highways nearby with no cops. I do take photos of all my rental cars - not so I remember what they look like but to prove I didn't make any scratches or dents I found.

I hate hotel hopping too but there always seems to be a fine line about how long to book when you don't know how it's going to turn out. That's why I tend to like three night stays. If it's great you put it on your list to come back, and if it's awful you thank your lucky stars you didn't have more than the 3 nights.
The bathroom looks severely cramped, your bed looks great and I'm with you on hearing the waves crashing from one's room. Heavenly.

As an adult I no longer like marshmallows - don't ask me how I got like this - even though growing up I ate boatloads of roasted marshmallows. And in my childhood no one had come up with the idea of a s'more. So believe it or not - I have never had one so perhaps I should reserve judgement and try the real McCoy on the next camping trip. Glad you enjoyed your National S'Mores Day.

I would have:
1 - called front desk and thanked them for the two rooms before they could get in a word otherwise
2- let reception know in hope of an upgrade
3- skipped the Dolphins and not piss off your wife
4- Tiffany's sounds like a reasonable response to me too

I love the snowbirds and except for a few planes flying over the Calgary Stampede on opening day I've seen no shows in years. A good reminder to see what their schedule is.

I'm relieved to know that you or anyone in your family can fly to London on a moment's notice. I trust you have a few pounds and your passport with a bag packed and ready to go too. Hope they don't have the nerve to ruin your August long weekend though.
