Merp, I live in that area and had no idea this was going on! Definitely would appreciate meeting more Toasts if we can get a thing going.
Toasts, how mentally "unwell" do you have to feel to call in sick at work? Sometimes it's difficult to tell if my brain funk is severe enough to stay home, or if I should just power through and do the best I can. (And brain weasels are not exactly an infectious disease.) I have a decent amount of sick leave and good employers, which helps.
This is all really helpful, thanks! I'm actually making Roth payments to my 401k (which is a thing you can apparently do!) right now, though it seems like I should switch to an IRA once I leave this job. Mostly I went with the 401k because it's easy--if I had to choose my investments myself I'd probably be too paralyzed by indecision to even start.
Anyone here good at finance things? I have a tiny baby 401k through my workplace (no match sadly) and I've been recently trying to figure out what the hell is going on there. It turns out all of my money is in a target-date retirement fund (T. Rowe Price). Is that a good idea? Also I can't for the life of me figure out what the fees are.
There's an open chat during lunch on Mondays! You can submit questions and Prudie will answer them in real-time. People will also comment on previous questions as they show up. After it's over, it all gets converted to a regular q&a format.
Archivist Wasp! It's like Gilgamesh meets The Hunger Games and is EXCELLENT and BRUTAL.
I have definitely shouted STRAIGHTBAITING at my laptop several times an episode.
Yes, and everyone (by which I mean my family) refuses to acquire any sort on heating/cooling devices for the house, because that would be ~admitting defeat~.
