It's certainly weird that we often automatically assume that people changing their appearance do it with a hidden message or motive or any kind of meaning behind it at all other than ... liking the colour red or thinking short hair might be nice because the wind sifts through it so weirdly.
But most often, maybe we as human beings do change for others, for them to perceive us in some (different) way.
And the connection to depression/suicide is, well, interesting.
