Well to be fair, the RPG elements are just in the form of upgrades a la finding parts and stuff and upgrading your equipment, so really...not very RPG-ish, just kinda. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Oh, absolutely. What I love is you can do both play mode and coaching modes which help for the test mode. Test mode gives you an ACTUAL representation of a Mensa test, so...you get to see you score go up and up and up. :D

The funny part is it's almost comparable to Alan Wake or Brutal Legend. If it was released a few years or even several years prior, it may not have been great, but it wouldn't have been terrible. Especially when you consider Zero Hour, Land of the Babes, Time to Kill, and Manhattan Project, it was obvious Duke was on a decline. I knew something was up when 3D Realms closed its doors, however.

I was just hoping for something at least satisfactory and don't get me wrong, it definitely has its moments..but you have to eat shit for a while to get those few moments. What it feels like is either the Xenosaga or Devil May Cry anime...it's almost as if the final product of DNF was headed by someone who absolutely did not know anything at all about Duke Nukem 3D and just slapped together what he had and called it a day.

Not only is it a disjointed mess, but Duke comes off as more unlikable than crude...not even as a relic, but more like a jerk. The only reason to play this game is to see what the original studios were going for. You can see hints of brilliance here and there that would have been great in the late 90s, but don't really work in 2012.

I was basically trying to point out that it's like trying to find imperfections in Chrono Trigger. You'd have to dig and they would sound like mindless bitching because, hey, it's an incredible game. The thing is these are things that were glaringly obvious to me over time because they're things I pay attention to. Despite that, the game is incredible overall and these points may be unnoticeable to some as a result, but annoy me because I was actually able to find them.

Yes. Buy it. If you liked the recent Fallout games or Elder Scrolls, you can't go wrong.

Err, no. Clearly you haven't played entirely through the thieves guild. I have. There was no little lie told. But hey, thanks for playing.

Honestly, I haven't beaten the game yet, but I found myself greatly entertained by the uncle, mostly because he was a sarcastic bastard that obviously didn't really want you there. Nevermind that this was amplified by the fact that you're just a kid and he's talking to you like this. I thought he was hilarious. Maybe not as good as GladDOS, but yeah. I've been playing it in small bursts and honestly, I love it.

I would definitely love to see a sequel as well. Great review!
