See, I know all of this and every day I plan to do it but then every night I collapse on the sofa in front of eastenders and 'forget' ;-)

At my son's school, the residential trips start in Year 3. I will so NOT be ready but will are such an important thing for them to do so I'll sit on my nerves for a few days and suck it up!

Since leaving my full-time job, I have tried to be much more frugal. Sometimes it is easier than others. I am still drawn to handbags and sparkly accessories, but have to really think about whether I need them or not before I buy. Often, I'll talk myself out of it but as you say, we do need to treat ourselves every now and again.

That's a great idea! My son is only 5 so we're not really at this stage yet but he does like to save up coins in his money box and then every few weeks we go to the shops and he buys something he likes. Like the way with this card we still have a bit of control, great for learning!

I would not want to give up SKY either and there are many other things that would go before it. Obviously, I would not keep sky if we had massive debts that we were struggling to manage, but I'd definitely look at other areas first. Sadly, our subscription to The Wine Society would have to go. And, I'd probably cut back on all non essentials on the weekly shop. Cancel netflix. Buy cheaper face creams etc.

Ooooh, I'd like to see the easy muffin recipe too please! I did a menu plan this week before I went on the weekly shop so only bought the things I knew we would definitely eat and saved £30!!! Scary how much money is wasted on crap we don't need but mazing how much difference a bit of planning can make :-)

This is all really good advice. I have dabbled in the odd sponsored post and review but most of the income I make from my blog now, is from writing for other people. So many of your tips above apply for people wanting to go down that route too.
I missed blogfest this year but sounds like your session was a good one x

Such a sad post. You are so strong, I am not sure how I would cope being apart from my husband for so long. Hang in there my lovely and I hope you will be reunited again very soon.

So true. We so often drag stuff around with us into weeks, months and YEARS let alone days. Is a good reminder to let go...
