My friends, I am writing from Montreal, with a book in my lap, and fresh Quebec strawberries waiting for me.

I am so thankful for the Toast, in ways I've expressed not just since the news of its closure, but since Day One when it found me. Thank you, Nicole C, Mallory, Nicole S, Jaya, and everyone who has contributed to the Toast. And thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of that.

I will be astonished to my last day what extraordinary people have gathered here. Each full of love, passion, uncertainty, and beautiful humanity.

And please come find me on Twitter if it so pleases you (@gyip). I will suspect I will also participate on the Toast Crumbs subreddit. See you there.

It has been a privilege to listen to all your voices, and see you through your triumphs and travails.

So fun! The people who got me as a match -- thank you so much for your mail! I'd love to send stuff back to you if you include your address!

Date, usually. Or "regular date." It sounds funny but romantic relationships that don't fit labels neatly are just kind of funny.

Or friend, if you've both communicated to each other you're not trying to hide anything, since some people use it as code for platonic. Friend is usually true if you really like them.

Sigh. I dunno. Like, can guys just realize this sooner? I've never married. I've never had kids. YET I KNOW STUFF SHOULD BE SHARED. Even if it doesn't shake out that way due to extenuating external factors, maybe they can really want it and try for it?

I meet men who think stuff like "women should be the caretakers" and I nope out of there. I don't want to spend years waiting for them to figure shit like my humanity and individuality.

I remember when I heard that name and was like, "Uh, that sounds real bad" even without the specific context of Irish domestic terrorism. After, I was *horrified.* The callousness is astonishing.

Psst, hey, would you mind talking about how to have such a conversation about playing second fiddle? Is that about laying out expectations of time, or priorities, or something? I'd love to know more if you're willing to talk about it.
