I am a native New Yorker and while I have successfully trained myself to say "milk" instead of "melk" and "cah-fee" instead of "caw-fee" I just can't shake Yooman and Yumor! The worst was playing a board game with someone named Hugh - "You go, Yugo!" was a very confusing sentence.

Well, this year I got drunk and told coworkers how much I love them (I spend most of my sober days in the office being weird and socially awkward) and then announced that I was quitting the next day (new job, woo!)

Other christmas party "highlights" of my life:
1. once started a new job in november, making the xmas party extremely awkward. I also had a huge crush on my boss at the time, so I used the christmas party to tell him i loved him as well (in the real way, as opposed to the above-mentioned 'we are drunk and i think you are cool but i've been too weird to make friends with you!)

2. once when I was a little bitty intern i had the misfortune of having an unplanned/unwanted pregnancy around christmas party time. I began crying when I didn't get a secret santa gift (whyyyyyy) and then proceeded to tell my internship supervisory about being pregnant (while also being wasted, natch).

Wake me up in january.

ETA: this was supposed to be in response to thread above about office xmas party tales!

haha my mom calls the dog my "sister" too. I have an epic email from her about how my "sister" wouldn't leave the dog park, and how she obviously took after me because i like to stay out too late also.

Oh, ignition. For the longest time, I thought it was:

Runnin' my hands through my 'fro
It's standin' up on its own

which totally makes sense and was a lot easier to do an interpretive dance to than "bouncing on 24's"

If you figure out how to dress yourself at this size, give me a shout. The changeover to fall and lack of most of my clothes fitting is causing me major anxiety!

I love falling asleep to podcasts, the only difficult part is that I have only heard the first half of many TAL eps...I find Ira's voice very soothing and it means that I get to lay in the dark with my eyes closed (good for sleep!) but still have a story to distract me from my brain chatter.

I bookmarked that because I have so many future situations in which I know this will be necessary!

Once I lost an entire media list and in the process of trying to cajole the company who hosted it to figure out a way to restore it (because they had done it before so I knew they could!) I dramatically and facetiously said I was going to have to kill myself because my boss was going to be so angry with me if I did not get this fixed. Turns out, they record all of their phone calls and sent that straight to HR who recommended my boss fire me (I was a temp). Thankfully (after confirming I was not, in fact, about to commit suicide about this media list), my boss just advised me to be a little more careful about what I said on the phone. Though humiliating, I thought this demonstrated a real commitment to my job!
