I think, if you read the article, it says that Bungie is going to punish people "who do it habitually." So, if you have to quit every once in a while it's very different from people who quit every couple of games out of rage.

To be honest, as the writer, the goal of the article is to ask whether a beta is really a reason to buy a game. They're trying to entice fans of Battlefield to buy Medal of Honor by including Beta Access in what, I know, is the Limited Edition, which, I also know, is regularly priced. It's about value. Since when was a beta a legitimate reason to spend $60 on a game if you weren't already convinced by the actual game?

I am old enough to remember Falcon and Wing Commander, but I didn't play either. I was more on the Descent/Tie Fighter kick haha. But seriously, what happened to games having lasting value because in between releases developers either created or seeded out (for instance, Blue Shift and Opposing Force were developed by Gearbox, not Valve) responsibilities to create content that would keep gamers engrossed and give them bang for their buck! Bring back my expansion packs - it makes me miss my old PC gaming days!

I have to agree that promising DLC as a game's released is like saying, "Hey, there's some stuff on this disc, but WAIT, there's MORE!!" It's just stupid.

Like I said, I'd definitely prefer them to take six months to make a serious expansion pack that offered 3 or 4 chapters at once, almost a complete game's worth. My fondest memories of what eventually became DLC are the Opposing Force and Blue Shift expansion packs for Half-Life. They were HUGE, and awesome!

I hate DLC. I think it's a ridiculous waste of money - I would much rather see expansion packs like in the good old days where you got some real bang for your buck - at least 5 or 6 hours of gameplay, practically a whole new game - instead of today's model of 1 hour for 560 MS points.

But, on the other hand, I have to disagree with the idea that Alan Wake was an incomplete game. It ended at a great cliffhanger for a second game. The purpose of the DLC is supposedly to provide something to push the game forward between the two games but isn't necessarily integral to enjoying the sequel (if it arrives given the poor sales).

Correction: I had already changed the front page to Arsenal, but failed to change this page. :-/

You know I did change it to Arsenal and it just didn't go through. Now I look like a fool. Thanks for catching that it didn't change!

A quick addendum: 2K Australia split duties with 2K Boston, who are now Irrational Games, so I suppose XCOM is the baby of half the BioShock team, but not all.

I think it's a full-on joke. At least, I hope they aren't serious about it...
