I love how elegant these garters are! There's something so lovely and old fashioned and perfect about lace, and the "something blue" garter would perfectly compliment my gown. Thank you for sharing you wonderful vendors with us!

Venue Tip: Check out local parks/green space with covered shelters. I used to work out west and both the town and county owned spaces like these that made gorgeous outdoor reception areas. The cost used to be something like $90 - $120 for a full-day rental. For that price, you might be able to bring in outside tables and chair and add a few more elaborate decorations.

I'm just beginning to work out garden plans for our home, given that the wedding is now only four and a half months away. This book is exactly what I need!

Cheryl,

After a ton of research into Freedom Rangers last year, we decided to go with Buff Orpingtons. They're a nice dual-purpose bird that lay regularly all winter long (it was - 20 last night and we still got six eggs!). Like your Americaunas, they are slower to put on weight (I think we slaughtered around 14 weeks, when the roosters were getting a bit rough with each other), but we had a 0% mortality rate (we ordered our stock from Murray McMurray), no leg problems and very little fighting until the very end. We kept eight hens and two roos for this year's chicks, something we couldn't have done with freedom rangers because they are a cross breed (the next generation will show different characteristics).

I will admit that we did get one rare-breed mystery chick (who turned out to be the flightiest rooster I've encountered recently), and we did send him to freezer camp with the others. I decided early on that I wouldn't keep mean roosters because of what they do to other people's perceptions of the species (and my own psyche). It may seem harsh, but I'm trying to ensure everyone is pulling his/her weight and not stirring up trouble.

Glad to have found your blog!

Because we're planning a backyard wedding (and my fiance and I are just about the same height), I went with these at Zappos: http://www.zappos.com/multiview/7750136/7792. They were only $105, fit perfectly, and the rhinestone detail was subtle and not too out there. The heel is maybe a quarter inch and primarily just provides structure and an arch that most of my ballet flats lack.

You're welcome to check out my DIY posts on my blog: http://gardeninggrl.wordpress.com/

I'm not quite on cupcakes yet (the wedding isn't until July), but I made signs this weekend.

I'm in the same boat, but I (for better or worse) have decided to make my own cupcakes... 140 of them the night before with my bridesmaids. We're also doing a little cutting cake for the top of the cake-shaped tower my future father in law is building. There are tons of non-cake options! Don't feel guilty about it!

My advice would be to bring a digital camera (if your salon allows it) and a trusted friend to take pictures of possible "ones". When I got it down to two dress choices, being able to take off the dress for a minute and sit in a robe and look at the two choices side by side helped me make my final choice - the distance made a huge difference!

It was also nice to be able to revisit the dress during the four months of waiting - when I went to pick it up, I instantly recognized it and was still thrilled with my choice!
