Great post. I completely agree. I've added this to Francesca's Festa of Favourites for August :)

Great idea. I'll file this away in the memory bank for when we get some warm weather and I can get the kids painting outside!

Oh I know. Sicily would be my number 1 choice to see my relatives and the beautiful surroundings.

If only we had a money tree!

My daughter had Best Start last year at the beginning of kindy. I don't even remember if we were issued with the grading, but if we were it obviously wasn't considered very important. It was more a tool for the teacher to know how to approach teaching the student. Also, it was great for the kids to have 45 mins of one-on-one time with the teacher before they started in a classroom full of kids they didn't know in a place that was new to them. Her school even told us NOT to try teaching them stuff in preparation for it. All they suggested was getting the kids to use scissors to cut shapes for developing hand-eye coordination.

I tried the 'reading eggs' and all sorts of things with my daughter at age 4 and then just couldn't be bothered with it - I left it up to school to teach her. And do you know what? School taught her. Now she's in year 1 and she's reading little story books to her sisters and writing sentences. Don't stress :-)

Oh, that's so sweet. Mine is ironing. I'm finding I have to loosen up a bit on this. There's a blog post about it which has been forming in my head for a few days. I'll have to make some time to write about it :-)

I haven't been reading the threads and I've never done sponsored posts before, but I wonder if the industry can gain some insight from corporates with respect to gifts and monetary (or other) interests. While in the blogosphere I guess it's all fairly new ground, in other industries there are fairly well-established ideas around what sorts of interests must be disclosed. It differs from industry to industry depending on how it's regulated, and a lot of the time there is still discretion from company to company. An example might be where a company owner has shares in a service provider they have engaged. Did they engage them because they do a good job or because they get something out of it?

In my (personal) opinion, it all comes down to whether a person has all the information they need to decide whether you're saying what you're saying because you received something in return for your opinion. Obviously you have said countless times that you are very concerned to only write about products you believe in. Ultimately, I think it comes down to transparency and making sure people feel that they can always trust your opinion. You just need to express that in the way YOU think is best :-)
