Getting physical with it is such a great tip! In today's digital world, it's so easy to create it and forget it until you check in the next time you get paid.

That's awesome, Aja! I don't think I could do this either, as many of the commenters suggested. But I think the fact that you are is beautiful...building the neighborhood you want to live in. You're a much stronger person than I am!

A lot of schools are cutting home ec programs where that curriculum would traditionally be taught, but some are adding personal finance electives. Usually they have funding and are maintaining home ec as well. A good econ teacher will sometimes mix in some PF, too.

We're going to sit down and have some long talks with them about the ROI on their education. But I won't stop them from pursuing their passion if they've really, really thought everything over and talked it over with me. I have a friend who is a career artist, and it's not insanely lucrative for him, but he makes enough to live. And he's happy. And that's what life is about. Sustaining yourself, yes, but being happy doing it if at all possible.

The same exact thing happened to me for mother's day. It was a perfect buy, but I never would have gotten it without their marketing experts nudging me their way. All the stuff you passed up is super cute, but yay for self-restraint! The budget will be happy, at least. :)

I think that's so true of all of us....we never stop to appreciate what's in our own "backyard!" I'm glad you indulged in this one!

I love the hopeful attitude! Probably a better way to approach these things. It was in Mexico...I'll have a post up on it in a couple of weeks. :) Although my photo-taking abilities are in the stone age compared to your beautiful shots.

Looks like an amazing time! I'll have to add it to my Australia must-do list. We travel differently depending on where we are headed; if it's a once in a lifetime trip, we'll pack in as much as we can as long as it's not so much that we'll go insane. If we have more time or know we'll be able to come back again, we take more of the "traveler" approach vs. the "tourist." We recently went on a tour that took us up a canal...I was so sad that we didn't get any pics cause it was kind of amazing, but at the same time my camera would have gotten soaked.

Wow, I looked at the feeds and the pictures...they make me feel this emotion I'm not exactly sure how to label. Maybe because it's a region/culture we so rarely get a glimpse of. Did you hear about Kim Jung-Un's uncle?
