I wrote a post last year about our wedding, to coincide with the royal hitch-up. Feel free to nick the photo from there. Nice idea.

The long-suffering Her Up North has been known to make lists of what lists she needs to make. Lists of lists. You two should share the same padded cell... :)

Great photos, such incredible quality of light. Loving the last pic too, the dog with the devil's horns...

Ooh, ooh, we put that police station together at Christmas. Great set. Anyway...

Having only sons my view is skewed a bit. However I do think the girlie Lego is a bit of a retrograde step. I think Lego appeals to certain types of child, ones who love the spatial challenge of putting together and who revel in the creativity of not just following the booklet but breaking it apart and remaking stuff they want. Apart from a few big ticket items, most of our Lego lives in huge tubs, ready to be used for anything. I just feel the girlie Lego is the opposite of all that.

But Lego are a huge and successful company, and I can't imagine they haven't done their market research on this.

Does she ask to sample the bottle first before you pour? Children's idiosyncrasies are so endearing. Love it.

Happy New Year to you and yours, Tara. We too did the family countdown for the first time last year and it was great. We play games and listen to party music (although this year, it being Saturday, we might have watched a bit of Match of the Day - ahem).

All the best for 2012!

Don't withhold. Cut her a break and grit your teeth, and promise yourself to start afresh in 2012. Rationing Christmas will just make everyone feel wretched on Christmas morning. Challenging (ie crappy) behaviour is exasperating and sucks away at your confidence as a parent, but change needs to come in increments, not in one fell swoop on a child's emotions.

Have a lovely Christmas, and here's to a new year with a new approach.

HUN x
