The specs yaps in gaming have gone too far. Sick of it all.

Right. I see that. And as you already mentioned, probably there will be more than one way to get those characters - if they are supposed to be available eventually. I'm okay with that. My only concern is really spend $ 100.00 to get both versions, which I'm not going to do (I'll hold my horses for the Wii U version).

Hum, sounds better since you're allowing gamers to opt which way is the best one for them. Anyways, I don't hold the truth, and you guys don't need to agree with me, but at least I hope you've got my concern.

Iwata said the following:

"And one thing Nintendo has determined as a company policy, what we are not going to do is create a full game and then say, ‘let’s hold this back for DLC.’ That’s not our plan."

I don't know exactly how he worded that in Japanese, but the overall idea is related to extra content. We can call it DLC, or unlockable content, or even something else. But the general idea is in his words: they are supposed to keep their business in a fair way.

Based on that, I said that I don't believe they will require one to purchase both versions of SSB to get the full content of it. We need to keep in mind that some people own the 3DS, but not the Wii U, and the other way around. Why would Nintendo alienate those players not giving them the full content at once?

I agree with you on Amiibo and paid DLC, which are the ways I think are the most adequate to deliver extra content. Having both versions of SSB might be an alternative way to get it, but not the only one, in my standpoint, since it is not fair and is not in line with what Iwata said.

This is something really hard to buy. Recently Iwata addressed some usual practices with regard to post-release gaming content deliver and made Nintendo position clear: no monkey business from their part.

There is no way to force someone to spend $ 100.00 in two games to have the complete roster available.

It is highly likely that future character additions will happen. But definitely not by buying both versions of SSB.

He does not sound excited at all...

By the way, for some reason I just remembered of No Man's Sky... I think that game will likely be a landmark this generation.

I found the launch of the New 3DS only in Japan this year really questionable. The problem is not the new iteration of the hardware itself; it's the gap between the release dates.

Why would one buy a original 3DS now if the New is just down the road? If one wants to play SSB on the handheld and does not own a 3DS at this point of its lifespan, just wait some months and get the one with superior hardware while plays SSB on the Wii U - remember that Nintendo did not provide circle pad pro compatibility for SSB on the original 3DS.

The gaming industry is taking a strange path lately... Microtransitions, suppressed content later sold as DLC, now this episodic fashion... Why not release a complete game at once?
