how are you pronouncing it to get 5 syllables in the 1st line?
I'd make it:
Beau-fort wind scale: Calm
Smoke ri-ses Ver-ti-cal-ly
Sea like a mir-ror
(hyphens marking syllable breaks)

Is it also that the more fresh the schism, the more that the new church asserts it's "one true path to God" message, whereas over time the older churches take on ecumenism as a way to welcome th next generation back?
