Toasties! I embark tomorrow on a 24-hr Amtrak ride, Vancouver to San Jose, where I'll be spending the week for a conference. Recommendations for 1) enjoyable train travel and 2) things to do in San Jose? Many thanks!!

Hi! I live fairly close to my school's library, so I go physically fairly often. My field uses a lot of printed/oversized material not yet available online and the librarians have been helpful for locating/ordering things!

The mandatory Research Methods class I took in my first year featured several librarian-talks. Although "this is how you search JSTOR/RILM" seemed unnecessary to me, some people in the class really needed it. The talks were also good for putting a face to the elusive Library Update emails.

I love this .gif even more because of the endless cycle of floating books in the background. Utterly mesmerizing.

Am I the only one who immediately thinks of Willow/Tara, "Strong like an Amazon"? I mean no I didn't just re-watch ALL of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netflix over the past three months.

Pinot noir, Roseanne Barr.

In all serious though, great article, and I particularly like Weinrib's statement that "Historically, it was the jesters who spoke truth to kings".
