Man, I expected more rage. This didn't seem too rageful to me, although that might just mean political coverage is making me jaded. And it's only the second time I've been able to vote for the president...
I agree that he's not perfect. People aren't. And I agree that women's health is a huge issue; so much for me that I just wrote my own post focusing just on that.
Another thing worth keeping in mind is that regardless of what Fox News says, Obama's not even that liberal; in fact, the Daily Beast's Andrew Sullivan was on the Colbert Report Tuesday night and referred to the president as a "moderate Republican", which in almost any other political climate he would be.

The yarn harlot wrote a smart post about this: http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2012/06/21...
. What bothers me though is that the Olympics aren't really about anything these days, I feel, besides trying to get as many medals for your country as you can and trying to make as much money while doing so as you can. In a way, I feel that an ordinary person trying to do something difficult that they love in the span of 2 weeks just to feel their own sense of accomplishment is more about what I see as the spirit of the olympics- athletes trying to do their best because they love it- than anything a bunch of pro athletes competing on television is.
I don't watch them, I was thinking of doing the ravelympics anyway, I don't know if I will or not now.

I would add marriage to this as well. And as a 20-something who has no idea when/if I'll get married, it seriously upsets me that there seems to be this idea in modern life that marriage and kids equals the end of everything. On the one hand, it means every guy my age seems to be terrified of commitment (unless he's already married). On the other, it means that even though I know this is bogus, I still feel like I can't possibly be old to enough to consider marriage or children because I'm not "grown up" enough for it- in which case, I probably never will be. Something is just messed up about our culture with respect to these things.
