Good for you on the sewing a lessons! It's a skill I wish I had but I do plan to try to teach myself as soon as school starts for my girls. I'm 44 so it's never too late to learn!

" Leave the outcome to God. Know that making mistakes is part of the process. God doesn't ask anyone for more than that"

I need that reminder. Sometimes I forget, that while I'm called to be faithful, the outcome is indeed not mine but His. When I find myself all wound up in knots over worrying about this and that, I need to remember that I'm called to assist in carrying out His will, not trying to make everything bend to my will.

A burden lifted....when I remember this.

That baby girl reminds me of when my three were that age. So adorable. Good move on the pond. My MIL had one and it was always clogged with leaves and such. Not pretty.

My favorite holiday card is May Your Cup Runneth Over and I liked the Holiday Garden and Holly in the Round Photo cards. Thank you for the giveaway! Very nice!

Oh Auntie Leila, I'm so glad the hydrangea carnage was kept to a minimum. I have a vivid imagination and the little scene of the dried hydrangeas flying about, your frantic scrambling to pull the chain multiple times and Bridget laughing just tickled me to no end. Thanks for the good belly laughs!

Rosie, I could have used your boots yesterday! I'm such a sissy about bugs, even small ones. We had a stink bug in our bathroom, dh was not home and I had one daughter who wouldn't use the potty til it was gone. I decided to drag out the vacuum and attach the long attachment to get a good distance between me and the bug. Alas, he crawled in the small space behind our vanity mirror and I couldn't get him. Dd was satisfied with this and was finally able to relieve herself. Still don't know if it's back there yet or has come out. Yuck!

Bridget,

Beautiful post and beautiful pictures! I was just showing my dd' s some of the pics of your room that your mom put on an older post. They were both in love with the little dolls by the fireplace. They too expressed a desire to have a fireplace in their room by which to set up their dolls.

Leila, I very much want to have a home open to my girl's friends. However, we have a tight budget and I can't figure out how to feed them all. We try to have real food here at home (fruit, yogurt, homemade snacks and bread, blah, blah, blah) but when my kids want to have friends over, I feel the need to run to the store to stock up on all the prepackaged snacks, fruity drinks/sodas, hot dogs, pizzas, mac n cheese that their palates are used to from their own homes. This can get very expensive. I tried serving things that we have here like home brewed iced tea, homemade lemonade, your tasty mac n cheese recipe, banana bread, homemade cupcakes from scratch etc but I get a lot of "No, thanks" with turned up noses and outright "Ew, I don't think I'll like that."

I don't want kids to avoid our home but sheesh, the budget takes a hit when I have to stock up on the things they will eat. My family eats and looks forward to my cooking so I'm pretty sure that it's not just that I'm a bad cook. Ha, ha.

Do I stay the course with our usual fare or do I stock up on the junk foods?

Also, I loved this post so much! You seem to have a way of taking all the things I intuitively think and believe and articulate them so well. Thank you for the time you take to put your thoughts out there for us.
