I have made things like homemade pastry (for gaming group) and a rainbow cake with pink frosting (at the special request of my niece, for her sixth birthday), but I look at the sheer length of that Arnold Palmer recipe and my eyes just go blank.

Maybe if someone I really loved asked me. Maybe.

it does look wonderful, though.

I don't want to brag or anything, but I've been doing pottery for a couple-three years now, and I make mugs that I sell for $18 that *don't* look like birds have pooped on them.

Hit up your local studio's craft sale, is what I'm saying.

Oh, he *was*. The rare combination of a great scientist (Nobel laureate) who was also an amazing science writer AND ALSO had zero tolerance for bullshit. One of his collections of science essays is still in print:

There's an beautiful essay by Sir Peter Medawar (on whom I may have a bit of a squish) skewering the mystical b.s. of that era's Deepak Chopra equivalent.

I once saved a wedding by being the only person, other than the bride, who knew how to lace the bride's corset. At last, all those years of Dickens Faire paid off!

I was a preteen/young teen and watched the everlovin' heck out of it. It even served as a gateway for young me to take her first tottering steps on the Internet and into fandom, what with alt.tv.animaniacs and all.

I really wanted to take Latin in school, but the last Latin prof retired literally the year before I started.
