Thinking about this.
The "list" of opportunity defined, seems easy and doable. Obvious. Are there not times when the opportunity looks like an impossibility or at least an improbability?
Throw in our own paradigms; God has given me much bold faith and has taken me to places most people say "why"? Adoption, moving the family to Africa, foster parenting...But I also have a significant self doubt. Currently back in grad school with dreams of health and hope to the world but it is hard. God has been very clear but it is not always easy.
Jonah had the funds and the boat was waiting to take him away from God's plan. When he finally got turned around he had a bad attitude! I think the key is to see, is God in this? What is my attitude in it? Had a few moments facedown. Confessing, asking, seeking, thanking.
Sincerely grateful

You nailed it! (or God's Word). Thank you again. Passing this one on. And making a difference in the little venue God gives me today.

God is sovereign. Thank you for the list as we have a new 12 year old foster child (his sibs 16 and 17 we adopted 14 years ago). Very challenging adding a totally undisciplined kid into the mix and watching "biology" (sin tendency) so obvious. Without Christ and unimaginable worldly influences. Amazing where kids standards come from and appalling that adults can do this to kids.

I would add, make the "punishment" fit the crime.
I have learned consistency and clarity are very important.
Now just to do it and find this all a worthy "job". It can feel lonely and defeating, parenting with purpose.

Note: Read yesterday and today, 1 Chron 22 David speaks to Solomon "the LORD give you wisdom and understanding', and authority so that.. 2 Chron 1:10 Solomon asks God for wisdom and knowledge to rule Your people. What am I speaking into my children?

Coming from a late 40 something woman I bet your wife liked it too.
I run often around a hilly lake, many geese. I often talk to the animals and I remind the geese their job is to honk their horns. The birds sing to the Creator and King who knows and loves them. Sometimes I talk to people too! Perspective; geese poop means geese somewhere. A good jazz band (running is like jazz to me) involves horns. I have a long run tomorrow. Sure I will think of this post. And give thanks.
On our race of life, noticing life is key! Excrement and all.
Praying for your transition.

By your inspiration and prompting I recently began to blog at averageabundance.wordpress.com
but I hesitate telling you as you really don't need to go there.
The fact that you asked nearly brought tears to my eyes.
I am a writer. I am a runner. I am a Child of God! Guess where my security stands with certainty.

Prayers. EnCOURAGEment too.
God moves people to places for purposes.
What a great opportunity for us all to watch, learn and participate in prayer.
Certainly you will have much to share in the "how to" in new venue, that others may need as an example and directive.
God is clear and trustworthy. Sincerely, Jackie

Living very close to the "home" of social media in Northern CA, I was disappointed last week. I goggled "National Day of Prayer" to find out what was happening in my area. One local church had it listed on their website. When I made my way to the courthouse at noon, all of 30 people max were there.
My twitter that day was, "if Jesus had returned today I bet it would be a viral FB status post, just not mine". Is the church missing out on an opportunity to get each other together face to face? I think so. 46 year old mom.
