I'm not that interested in a Sandman adaptation, but I think the only way that it could work would be as a long tv series with Gaiman's involvement. Bonus points if it was animated. Also, I've been reading Mark's reviews without commenting, but Ubyl Fuvg! V guvax ur svtherq bhg jub qvrf va Gur Xvaqyl Barf.

This is probably the most sympathy I've ever felt for Desire. If Desire tells you not to want something, LISTEN!

What an emotionally devastating way to end the story arc. You can't seek Destruction without being destroyed. Brief Lives starts with Dream grieving a failed romantic relationship and ends with him mourning his son. It's not my place to say one's worse than the other, but I'm going to anyway. The pain that he's feeling at the end of this story has got to be worse than what he was going through at the beginning. Anyway, his emotional state at the end is much more complicated. His post break up angst is showy and melodramatic he wants everyone in his realm to know exactly how he feels. When he returns to the castle, he's polite to everyone and retires to his room for a day to process what he's going through privately.

At least Orpheus is finally at peace, thousands of years as an immoral head is no way to live. It's just a shame that his father is the only being who could give him that peace.

I want a talking dog. All of the talking animals in this story are fantastic. Matthew and Barnabas should have a snark off.

I loved Death dressing down Dream. I think he would have continued to look for Destruction by himself. He went to Bast without anyone pressing him to, and he told her that he needed to find his brother. Znlor ur xarj jung xvaq bs fuvg jbhyq tb qbja naq jnf gelvat gb cebgrpg Qryvevhz ol rkpyhqvat ure.

The abandonment really messes with Del, in my version her dialogue bubbles loose their color while she's in her realm and slightly come back when Dream agrees to continue the journey. That conveys something that an artist couldn't in any other medium.
