My goodness, wasn't it incredible! I have to talk about Manon and the Thirteen firstly, her narrative slayed me five ways to Tuesday. The moment where she was finally recognised, I cried. Then cried some more about the sacrifices these tough as nails young women made and then cursed Sarah J. Mass because how bloody well dare she. I loved Yrene but felt the same, their relationship was just too intense for the short amount of time they knew one another and I couldn't really invest in them. It took me three weeks to get through it but I absolutely loved it. I would love to see a crossover series between the Throne of Glass and Court of Thorns and Roses worlds. I just haven't had enough. Beautiful review Joy and so stoked you loved it.
I haven't read anything by Christina Lauren before but goodness, this sounds pretty much like a typical Fifty Shades type romance, lots of sex without any substance. One issue that turns me off any book is a female character being dominated by a man in a position of power, it just never sits well with me that not only do we live with inequality that we also have that imbalance in our fiction as well. I'll be stearing clear of this one but really excited to read Roomies, I have a copy and plan on reading it through the new year. Wonderful review Joy and sorry you couldn't have enjoyed this a little more ♡♡♡
Gosh, such a well loved series isn't it Joy and with so much depth of character. I gave into the hype last year and read book one and while I didn't particularly like Lily and Loran, I loved Connor and how he called them out on their behaviour. It's really what those two needed as they seemed to enable one another which could have ended in disaster. I'm really keen on seeing what you've thought of the rest of the series, I haven't read beyond book one so keenly awaiting your review. So glad you enjoyed this one Joy, I love what an eclectic reader you've become so I can pick up some new reads! ♡♡♡
Mine too Nara! I love her young adult contemporaries, they're always just so lovely and entertaining. There's something familiar about the characters she creates, you feel as though you know them. Whether you can personally relate or they remind you of a friend, that familiarity really makes you want to invest in the storyline. Apart from Zorie's father, I loved the parents and the influence they had on their children's lives. And don't forget the dildo forest! Thrilled you loved this too Nara, wonderful review! really enjoyed it ♥♥♥
I’m back from… Wherever I’ve been. You're such a precious little pocket monster.
I absolutely loved this one too! My goodness, it was beautiful in the most breathtaking way possible. Magical realism is usually a bit hot or miss for me but I was so swept up in the magic of her mother being a bird and the atmosphere of Taiwan. It reminds me of Magnona, the same lyrical beauty but this one has far more depth. Everything I've read since has been a bit meh to be honest. Beautiful review Val and so glad you enjoyed it <3 <3
I can't believe I haven'y even started this series as yet. I have the first two books on my shelves, bought them from an unhauling blogger. I seen a lot of mixed reviews for book two though so I was put off despite how awesome Rebel of the Sands sounded. I'm stoked to hear that the series ends on a high, I always worry they're going to fall flat, especially after Allegiant. I still haven't recovered. Beautiful review Joy, I'll be moving the series high on my TBR now <3 <3
I've seen Bloomsbury promoting this one on Twiiter lately and the cover didn't grab me but oh my goodness, I need this book desperately! The storyline sounds phenomenal and so intricate, a murder mystery night seen from.the viewpoint of each character through the eyes of one man. There's no words to describe that kind of genius. If not for your review Joy, I probably wouldn't have known how spectacular this book is, that cover is so unassuming. Absolutely phenomenal review, I'm so excited! <3 <3
I read this a few years ago now Joy and it still remains one of the most brilliant books I've had the pleasure of reading. It was the book that encouraged my husband to read again too. I'm a child of the eighties so it wasn't hard to immerse myself in the references, it felt as though it was written for the old schoolers and teens of today by blending old and new technologies. I can't recall any other YA that's really had that appeal. I'm so bloody stoked for the film, not so much for a sequel. I read Armada which was supposed to be similar and it was dreadful. He seems desperate to cash in on the popularity but you can't recreate Ready Player One. Brilliant review Joy, I'm so stoked you loved this too <3 <3
Bone Gap is one of my favourite reads. When I first started reading it, I had to reread the first quarter or so again because I was confused as to what was going on. It's definitely one of those books where you suspend disbelief, clear your mind and just read. It's a love it or hate it book really. I didn't know Mira Grant was Seanan McGuire either until last year, she was coming her for a science fiction convention. Shocked I tell you, shocked :D
You could have mentioned what series, now I have to do my own stalking and check Goodreads. It's hard for perverts these days, have to do all the work ourselves. I don't binge read often but recently did with the Chaos Walking series and read them all wiithin six days I think. Which was brilliant and I loved it, except I can't review it because everything is a spoiler and I can't remember where one book ends and the next begins. I pretty much inhaled them. A most excellent binged series can send you into a massive reading slump too. Interesting reading others thoughts too, goes to show we're as individual as the books we read. Brilliant discussion Val, I think I'm a bit of a fence sitter on this one <3 <3
