Based on the tactic, warlord trait, and strategem for Fists; I think it's now clear why they are routinely beat down in the fluff.

Agreed, less useful because it's situational. The relic is bad too. The Warlord trait is disappointing; I was expecting the warlord trait to be some sort of leadership bonus (since in previous editions, they've usually had Stubborn in some fashion). And the strategem is not that helpful (a 10-man unit will get a couple extra bolter hits). It's not that the Imperial Fists seem bad, but they're clearly not as good as other chapter tactics. And don't even have an awesome named character like Vote for Pedro!

My hope is they do a future supplement with additional strategem(s) and warlord trait(s) and relic(s). I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to recover Primarchs (and the current fluff appears to make him Merle in TWD S1 - found his hand, but not a body) to see a future supplement (maybe Dorn vs Pertaubo for all the siege warfare bragging rights).

I'm sorry, had a bad day. Doesn't excuse my behavior, and I get it. You guys are doing a nice job on the previews and spoilers. For the point cost, I assumed it had to include the weapon, because these seem way out of line.

You're an idjit. You're adding weapon point cost, when it's clearly already included since it's noted as equipped. And you can't do math.

For example, the Macro-Cannon Aquila Strongpoint is "equipped with an Aquila Macro-Cannon." That means it's already in the point cost. When it says you may take up to 4 heavy bolters, those you pay the points (8 each, which is 32, not 24). So, the cost would be 362 points.

Now, I still won't field the thing. But, it's 72 points less than you think.

Won't be surprised if Chainfists are like melta (roll twice, pick highest), or maybe its 2d3, etc.

Agreed. I think it's more likely that 6 wounds will kill the Chaos Lord. Slice him in two (a fatal wound) and not reduce its wounds by half.

I look forward to using all my GW models in a game with good rules (this, DZ, and Warpath is coming down the pipeline).

I don't use recasters. Don't buy much FW items anyway, and it doesn't seem worth the hassle for a GW product. Plus, rather work with plastic than resin.

As far as the price, esp of the books. By raising the prices, in some fashion, GW is encouraging piracy. Not saying that makes it ok, but as price goes up, more people turn to the black market. If new books were $20 instead of $50, would they sell more? Would they sell enough more to hit the same profit? Doubt it, but they would probably have close to same revenue. I used to buy every book, back in third and early fourth. When they were thin, and cheap. I'm like you, if I just want a peak, I get a peak. If I want a super robot smashy army, I buy the book.

Just this year, I bought the SW book to go with SW army. But instead of buying the flying boxcar or the supplement, I put them on my Xmas list because of the price.

Any game that uses a point style system for army creation (which is pretty much all of them), will always have a 'best' unit due to cost/benefit. All the complaining about LVO Eldar - just change the name and it's been said over a variety of lists over a variety of editions. And even over game systems. I wish GW was better at balance, but I also haven't quit playing. I just hope my army is the next to benefit from it.

I used to play a lot of Bloodbowl, and once had an opponent blame the dice for his loss. I told him that was kind of insulting me, because I had worked to put him in a position where he needed to roll a lot of dice to do anything. 40k isn't exactly the same, but there is some similiarity. Sometimes, it's not that you had some bad dice, it's that your opponent forced you to roll a lot of them.
