Mr. Stewart, If one were to agree with your premise, you've rendered all words meaningless and communication impossible. But that can only be true if the words you used had precise meanings. If they did not, then likely I agree with you because your meaning cannot be known, nor mine.

Your perceived meaning is archaic and the word no longer means "to take a tenth." It now is to destroy a great number or proportion of; as in, "The population was decimated by a plague." Please note this definition is from dictionary.com

I have one, and read it today also. You have to start it so you have it when you need it.

Wow...how "14 weeks" in time can change perspective. I hope you are okay Shaan Phillip. God loves even if you have been misled by false teachers.

Tim, Congrats and grateful God is giving even more to Granger. To him who is faithful...more will be given!

Might be a good blog post (or 10) to walk others through your "opening" this fall. Some of us other church leaders would enjoy seeing the before, analysis, and after if you have time to post.

I love america for the same reasons you do....only one I'd add is:
Democracy - problematic for sure, but far better than the alternatives.
Hope - people still flood our shores and boarders seeking opportunity, which gives me hope.

Never knew the origins of Mother's Day. I feared it descended from Hallmark, so thanks for the history and the challenge.

Ron, would have not called ourselves this, but Hope Community Church (www.gethoe.net) operates like "church for dummies." Practical, applicable, and simple. Love the post.

Michael...would love to see your "normalspeak" resource. We've talked about one, but never taken the time to make it. Would you be willing to share?

Tim...great response. Had a lunch this week with a leader who left our church. He felt a core issue at the church had shifted and he was off to help plant a new church. I wished him well and didn't respond to the critique. He sent me a kind email for precisely NOT dismissing nor being defensive. And I will watch for this core issue to see if we have shifted. Your letter is inspiring to keep seeking truth and the "yes."
