We've just had a similar conversation with my daughter's teacher about what she might need to focus on over the school holidays. I do believe the holidays are for down time but blending in some disguised learning never goes a-miss. Thankfully, my daughter is super keen on reading at the moment and loves writing so it shouldn't be too hard.
