I speak Polish (my native), English, Indonesian, Japanese. Basic Korean (the book was little text with illustrations ;)) I have forgotten Russian and Latin. I try to read books in other languages to polish my language skills.
My favourite genres are fantasy & science fiction, but I read non-fiction books and history-related books (often about the history of my hometown, Warsaw), one of my favourite books are also historical fiction (ancient times, like Quo Vadis, it was published by Gramedia ;)). I try to read books from countries around the world (I made a challenge for this) despite the genres. I'm not fond of romance and YA.

I chuckled at "Promosi dong". :D Here in Europe there are many voices against Amazon for mistreating their workers. They say it's the reason for the low prices.

Unfortunately in Poland we have some untranslated series too. Quite irritating, but in the end reading original (if you can) is better. As for the covers, I think that Indonesian covers are better. they are not putting me off, like the original ones, which are so very similar. And I don't even like romance, but I would take notice of those books, enough to read the description on the back cover.

You know, translators aside, some books are just crap and no matter how good translator you get, it won't be worth it.

I've got 3 unfinished books, so far, in the last 2 years. Two non-fiction books: one history of Poland (dully written), the other one - Nabokov's explanation of Russian literature to USA students (Poland & Russia are neighbours, with mingled history, reading Russian literature at school, and I learned Russian) which was a mistake to read a book written from lectures for students who don't know much about Russia. I couldn't stand the English transcription of Russian names instead of Polish, and lack of Russian alphabet, which made understanding quotes more tricky. :D The last one was in Korean, I lost momentum and put it away. :D
Usually the books I select to reading are carefully selected, so I don't have a lot unread or badly scored books.

Wow, you're able to read that? I had enough of the main heroine either in half of the second or third book. I just can't read that.
