Comics can take its cue, and its warning, from the Bill Cosby fiasco. Only instead of one superstar with 50+ accusers over 40 year period, it's several insular stars in a particular field, each with multiple accusers over decades. Comics as a monolith should be very, very afraid, and that's a good thing.

I'm just waiting for one particular pair of cockroaches, a Bill and a Camille, let's say, to be driven out of the particleboard and into the light. I'd be happy to do it myself but it's not my story to tell. But it needs telling.

okay here's the difference: female and male are adjectives, used to modify a noun. Female doctor, check. Male stripper, check. Whatever. It's a modifier. The NOUN is the part of speech that is the person (place or thing, thanks Schoolhouse Rock).

Calling someone a female or a male is denoting the description of appearance and not the self.
