I'm a big fan of my slow cooker too, especially during autumn and winter. I made a chicken stew recently using a chicken leg. I stripped the meat of the bone after nine hours slow cooking and it just fell away. It's magic at transforming cheap ingredients into tasty meals.

Those are some great ideas, especially going for a wander in the dark. Do let us know how you get on :)

I think you've made the right decision about the school choices, you'll have to let us know how it all goes. Now is the perfect time for comfort food! My slow cooker is out and ready to roll too :)

I think making your own as much as you personally can is a good way to go :) I make my own cakes and bakes, but I wouldn't tackle making my own yoghurt or ice cream, although I am certainly envious of those who have such skills!

I'm loving the look of this challenge. I'm currently using eBay to my full advantage, selling stuff I don't want to purchase items I actually need. I look forward to reading the posts in this series :)

I think a packed lunch is a great idea, no matter your age. I could buy stuff at the campus café daily, or I could save a lot of money by packing something myself. I know which one I would prefer to eat too :)

I've had quite a good frugal week. Made a lentil loaf to take to work as a packed lunch all week :) Much tastier than shop bought bits.
Best wishes.
