Yes, me too! I'm not as completely removed from personal memories as she describes (I can recognise old photos and recall emotional situations - especially embarrassing ones!) But there's no filmic play back. I feel like that's more to do with a lack of visual memory/ability to mentally visualise things though. I definitely can't picture myself on a beach etc.
Memory is weird. Having studied psychology for a short time I came to realise presumptions about 'normal' functioning are rarely as universal as textbooks suggest.

That one's still going on today - there was a (now removed) ad campaign in London which consisted of a photo of an extremely pretty freckled woman with the slogan: “If you don’t like your imperfections, someone else will.” :( http://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/apr/12/matc...

Solidarity indeed - very much appreciated! Best of luck with the proposal. I've honestly given up with thinking any academics care very much about deadlines like that (she says, sending off this chapter going on midnight, it's still Friday right!?)

Solidarity indeed! Sorry to hear things aren't going so well, but they say these come in threes so things will have to look up now (if you count mouse in your room as not a bad thing, which I kind of would, because, cute mouse! - aware that part might not be v helpful!)

It's now 11pm where I am, the chapter is still not sent and a good couple of thousand words over what my supervisors will want, but I think I'm just going to have to bash out a chapter and call it a night. I'm also feeling miles better knowing there's another Toastie out there who understand x

I've been trying to finish off this thesis chapter today (which should really be sent off about now, though I'm telling myself that 7pm is still a reasonable time to get it over to my supervisors) and just as I was finally getting into a flow with writing, my flow came, and the cramps, and the ugh...

So here I am now with a hot water bottle trying to get this done, with no one in my immediate vicinity to moan about this to, so I thought this might be the place to vent. Anyway, first time 'Cocktail Hour' post-er that I am, hope some of you are having a much more enjoyable day!
