Thanks for the link to Matthew Archbold's post. I thought it was interesting to hear President Obama's comments at the National Prayer Breakfast this week where he claimed that Christianity guides his policy decisions. Let's see if this angers the laity enough to become involved and vote.

I like your insight in differentiating between sexy and desirable. There is a difference and it is important for a lasting marriage.

I would add something to this statement: "The truth is, both men and women will put up with so-so sex as long as other parts of the relationship are solid and valuable."

In my experience of being married for 16 years, when we actively promote our relationship and therefore solidify the non-sexual portions of it, the satisfaction with our sex life grows by orders of magnitude. In other words, a so-so sex-life may be a symptom that the other areas of my relationship are in need of attention.

To help with this situation, I like the concepts from Dr. Harley's Marriage Builders web site and his suggestion that couples spend a minimum of 15 hours per week dedicated to fulfilling each others most important needs. Here's the top 10 most common:

Affection
Sexual Fulfillment
Conversation
Recreational Companionship
Honesty and Openness
Physical Attractiveness
Financial Support
Domestic Support
Family Commitment
Admiration

God bless!
