What beautiful photos Carol. Thank you so much for sharing. It makes me pine for your beautiful city. Autumn is my favorite time of year in New York. Your pictures tell why.

I LOVE this! Great post Carol. And yes, we must figure out new (and better) ways to define success. While big paychecks and power are nice, I too believe that success is better defined by happiness and peace of mind. You are obviously dressing for the right job. (And you look fabulous!)

Too many places to list! Africa. Costa Rica. Machu Picchu. Italy. Hawaii. London. Paris. Greece. And I'd keep going and going and going.

I love this post Carol. I'm so happy for you that you were able to have such a wonderful experience with your son and I love that he reached out to so many European teens. I try my best to embrace change when I travel - it's one of the many reasons I do it, but I know that a lot of Americans don't. I think that travel writer you spoke to nailed it. Many Americans want to experience something "exotic," but then throw a fit when they get back to their 4 or 5 star hotel and their eggs aren't cooked the way they like them at home. I prefer to stay in little pensions or B&B when I travel internationally and soak up the local culture. Why go far away from home if you're not willing to learn about a new culture?

Great post Carol. I also love to spend one on one time with my kids now and then.

When my kids were younger my husband and son and then my husband and daughter were in the Indian Guides/Princesses - a father/son, father/daughter organization run by the YMCA. He would take them individually on camping trips and I would stay home with the other. My kids looked forward to the "alone weekend with mom" as much as they looked forward to the "getaway weekend with dad."

Now I've just got to get in on the "getaway" part!

Loved meeting you at the Wine Sisterhood Carol! (And I know, it seems like forever ago that we were there!) Your pictures are wonderful. They almost make me feel as if I'm back in Napa. (Almost!)

That is exciting! When my kids were small (they're now 16 & 12) the Kratt Brother's Zoobommafoo was one of our favorite shows. (It was definitely my favorite show - those Kratt brothers are dreamy!) I look forward to hearing about how your daughter reacts to meeting her idols. (My daughter would have definitely gone the hugging route!) :)
