Interesting post. There are many out there who collect different items from the past, and so that did not surprise or sadden me. His focus, only focus in life, to the point of financial ruin, is the sad part. Being so attached to things, to possessions that they become your life is a tragic, regardless how valuable or invaluable the item is. They are just things. Man made things. Better to put high value on family, country, God, leave a legacy of care and concern for others behind instead of a collection of things no one else values. Just my humble opinion.

Great suggestions, Jeannie. It is a little creepy to recognize those traits in the people we come into contact with in our daily lives. Really makes you want to pay closer attention. And, your suggestions for fiction conjure up some great suspense scenes....Thank you.

My husband's retirement, while I am still working a full time job, was a huge adjustment, and caused some stress in our routine. It took some time, and a few warm conversations, but we hammered out a system that works.

Yes, it is funny, and sad. It is sad to be so obssessed that much of life passes you by. Still, it is okay to laugh at OUR failings.
