Love the imagery J.C. and your description is beautiful. The length of your lines probably goes with the mood of the writing, but I can't help thinking it would be easier to read if that longest line in the middle was broken up just a bit.

I would start a new sentence after gems. It breaks nicely there and the words come off stronger from the pause.
