ha! Yes. I think he just wants to share his infinite knowledge with me. I just don't have time for him. And I've gotten weirded out by his persistence.

Our public affairs officer said she would talk with him if I needed her too.

Hi Toast Collective. There is a man in a far-away state harassing me about an interview I did with the local radio station. It was about bear safety and bear spray (I am an instructor). He called my voice mail. I deleted it. He called our HQ office and badgered a public affairs officer. She called me and I told her that we follow all appropriate policy. She told him what I said. I thought it was the end but no. He called my office to talk to someone different about how something else I said was wrong. He is a self-professed bear expert. He is only targeting me, and not the other 2 men who said the exact things I did. This has gone on for a week. I'm now afraid. He hasn't contacted me directly, just tried to make other people make me call him.

It's ok to ignore him, right? He just wants attention and to be acknowledged as The Expert, yes? Why can't he leave me alone!

Nicole! Please consider flat rate boxes from the USPS! Small boxes are around $6 and those of us in America's hinterlands (AK and HI) would be able to afford shipping.

Toast and toasties, thank you so much for introducing me to a wider Internet. Black nerd problems and Cultural appropriations are in my regular rotation, and others but my kid woke up at 4:45 and demanded I play magnets so I am only 83% human today and can't think of more.

I will miss this place but I am eternally greatful for these link roundups. (Thank you especially for all the coverage of indigenous issues. I am a white person living in an Alaska Native place and I am am working on being an ally.)

Hi. I am going to OT rant because I got so mad I was shaking at work today.
I teach bear/rifle safety for my Federal Agency. The local radio station came out to the range with us to talk bear spray, rifles, and bear safety. It was nice!
Some guy (who showed up at a landslide talk I did and thinks we have a rapport now) emailed me about how my science was "wrong."

He then sent emails he exchanged with some guy rather than actual journal articles. I follow bear safety science pretty closely and report findings, I do not go in for Opinion Science. Then, since I ignored his email, he got the guy he was talking to to call me and tell me how wrong I am.

It was an entirely different woman and man talking about the bear spray science in the radio spot. (And a state trooper who is a buddy of mine.) These two, older, white men did not contact them. Just me. One of the two women who talked on the radio and not the one who said the things they disagree with.

Burn it down.

Thank you for this link. I love that series and can't stand Paw Patrol. They have a girl rescue dog but she is pink. I argue about representation on children's shows with my husband in front of my kids.

Dadspin gets me:

Skye: Girl dog. Has her own helicopter. Is likely paid less than the male puppies on staff. Her lack of character depth is highly problematic. ANSWER FOR YOUR GENDER IMBALANCES, CANADIAN ANIMATORS.

Off topic, etc, but I am so excited to know that you exist in my tiny, remote town. Thank you Mallory and Nicole for starting this community. Just FYI, I actually take to the sea in my big steel boat when life becomes a dumpster fire.
