Uninspiring.

Reading the total lack of any real big policies (especially economic ones) in this manifesto makes you wonder if the right is completely losing the argument, over the long term...

Even the Labour Party has put repeal of the FTPA in their manifesto...

For the military it is more of a problem with recruitment. Even maintaining current numbers is a struggle.

Commitment designed to appeal to relatively wealthy Conservative Party members dropped in a general election trying to appeal to everyone.

Who'd have guessed?

This is probably a good idea, the difference between 19% and 17% is small, but has a bigger hit on tax revenues than before because there's no longer a separate small business rate.

What is needed more is reforms and cuts to other taxes: scrap the insane 63% marginal rate between 100 and 120k, reform stamp duty, scrap air passenger duty (replace it with VAT), and start to simplify the mind bobbling complexity of all our tax code.

This is supposed to be a manifesto, where they could have put essentially anything in the Queen's Speech because the vast majority of it has no chance of passing.

And yet, it was short, it was lacking in any vision whatsoever for what our country should become, and was entirely designed to be uncontroversial.

Imagine if the Queen's Speech in 2010, there was a bill announced purely about the allocation of tipping? Cameron's government would've been laughed out of the park for being ideologically empty.

We are in ridiculous times.

Obviously the key date is after the EU Council meeting. The Opposition wants to force Boris to go asking for an extension, after that, I imagine they'd go no confidence, assuming there's no deal agreed. Until then it will be more of the same.

A Queen's Speech was always a distraction. It's not likely it would pass and there's no chance of the current government implementing any real policy anymore. We need an election.

That just says the Secretary of State needs to publish a report on the progression of negotiations with the EU by the 30th November.

What?

This logic is maddening. The Supreme Court has intervened to continue to allow the people you voted for to exercise their power, and not the people you didn’t vote for directly (the Government)

Impossible without a parliamentary majority, as should be the case.
