This post makes me the happiest because in addition to validating the canonical truth that Paris/Rory is canon, it explains why I always really shipped Anne/Josie. If only Josie had gotten to be a deep beat-reading hipster who won Anne over (temporarily) in spite of her best efforts to resist! Alas. At least Paris/Rory is canon. *Paris/Rory is canon!!!!!!*
One of the things I like about Billy Wilder's Sabrina (which is flawed in a lot of respects and mostly features two older dudes battling for Audrey Hepburn like she's a mannequin) is that Sabrina has her bourgeois Parisian makeover at the hands of an elderly man who just thinks she's sweet and hangs around Europe for a while to apparently chaperone her. But naturally, all that's undone by the way Bogart totally builds up a fake persona purely in order to lure her in and intrigue her so that he can use her. Older dudes: THE CORRECT ANSWER IS ALWAYS NO.
