This is why I read your blog. Fantastic.
I like anything that lets me check out new blogs :) I have participated as a cheer leader in Dewey's then as a participant later. I did the Super Bowl one because I really liked the idea (I despise football) and that made it fun. Other than that I tend to ignore them. I am assuming that is what others do just ignore them.
I stay away from any blog where memes or giveaways are all I can find on the first page. I hold my blogging anniversary giveaway, and usually 3 or 4 more through a year that are asked of me by a publisher and for a book that I do want to get the word out about. I ask for nothing in return, no follow or RSS or anything, usually fill out a form or in the case of my latest giveaway going on now for No Strings Attached I asked for people to comment and tell me about a time when they thought they were getting a good deal but it turns out strings were attached. A good blog has good content, however there is one blog that I can think of right now that is very successful and the owner does is giveaways. Sad-making.
I jump in whenever I can to a readathon granted in my 3 years of blogging that has only been twice. I think they are all community building as it encourages you to check out the sites and the progress of other people who are doing the same readathon. I don't think anything can take away the importance of Dewey's legacy.
I have wanted to read this forever!
There are ten or eleven now. She is ending the series though.
*hugs* If her family has a preferred charity can you let us know?
Wow I think there was tons going on in Wither, I also made the comparison to The Handmaid's Tale and I believe teens will find this more enjoyable and more than that I see it as a bridge to adult dystopia as they grow. This book is important to the genre. No there are no explosions or kids in a ring fighting to the death but dystopia is about so much more than action scenes and intense manipulation of reader's feelings.
